On the 14th of May we went to the Open Door event of Jérôme aka “le Permaraîcher” (play on words: The permaculture and vegetable market gardener) in Vic Fezensac, Gers. We discovered an interesting character, attentive and very organized in his approach to permaculture gardening. About a hundred people from all over the region enjoyed a guided tour under the bright sun.
Jérôme launched his project more than 6 years ago, starting by building a tiny house to have a temporary home for himself and his family while also making his vegetable gardens. He then built a beautiful barn and his final home.
Thanks to his skills, his motivation, a little help and a lot of manual work, his gardens allows him to now feed his family and a dozen others near by. He also organize courses in permaculture and vegetable market gardening.
During this visit Jérôme did not hesitate to share his observations, his tricks and his mistakes, while being careful not to reveal all his little secrets!

Permaculture and the return to a world closer to nature attracts more and more people. Many projects are born but do not necessarily last for a variety of reasons. Jérôme has managed to sustain his project, but not without help. Among so many other great encounters that same day we had the pleasure of getting to know Flo and Marco. They make the videos of the Permaraîcher and in return they benefit from living in Jérôme’s tiny house as well as using his workshop and his construction skills to realize their own tiny house on a trailer.
