La Drôme is known as the organic valley of France, where you can find lots of local organic fruits and veggies. After our work exchange stay in La Balme, we hitchhiked to Beaufort-sur-Gervanne, a charming medieval village. There we were hosted by friends (and friends of friends) from the assosiation and permaculture farm L’air des Pichoulis.
The lovely lady running the new grocery store, L’épicerie, welcomed us to do some volunteer work, stacking mostly local and/or organic food on shelves. This small store is a great initiative created by the help of local support and crowd funding. You can read more about their history here, and see photos from their opening day here. On our last day in Drôme we had a call from James (one of several friendly drivers we hitchhiked with), asking us if we wanted to join him and his friends climbing. We of course said yes!
